This Epiphone ES-335 came in with intermittent signal issues traced back to a faulty 3-way toggle switch — a common wear point on semi-hollow body guitars due to frequent use and tight cavity space. I performed a full diagnostic of the electronics, confirming that the pots and pickups were in good shape, but the switch required replacement.
I installed a high-quality Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch, known for its durability and smooth action, ensuring reliable pickup selection for both rhythm and lead tones. Due to the semi-hollow design, this involved careful component fishing and reassembly through the F-holes, preserving the guitar’s original solder points where possible and using clean, durable connections where new soldering was required.
After reassembly, I tested all functions under playing conditions — the switch now operates with a crisp, positive feel, and the guitar is back to delivering its signature warm, articulate tone with rock-solid reliability.
