TAYLOR GS MINI - NECK SHIM & ACTION CORRECTION

I recently had this Taylor GS Mini on the bench for a client who was struggling with high action. While the GS Mini is known for its comfortable feel and great tone in a compact body, this one needed a bit of attention to get it playing its best again.
The Issue: Action Too High
The guitar came in with noticeably high string action, particularly up the neck. This made it uncomfortable to play and affected intonation. Truss rod adjustment alone wasn’t going to solve the problem — the neck angle needed correcting.
The Fix: Neck Shim Installation
After assessing the neck geometry, I removed the bolt-on neck and installed a precision shim to adjust the neck angle. This allowed the saddle height to be set correctly while bringing the action down to a comfortable, playable level.
Shimming is a clean and effective solution on bolt-on neck guitars like the GS Mini. It ensures:
Proper neck-to-body alignment
Improved playability
Better intonation
Optimal saddle height for tone transfer
