YAMAHA ROADBASS - RESTRING & INTONATION WORK

Every now and then, a bass comes through the workshop that reminds me why Yamaha instruments have such a solid reputation. This Yamaha Road Bass arrived for a fresh setup — mainly a string change and intonation adjustment — but as always, I took the time to give it a full check-up and make sure it was performing at its best.
After removing the old, worn-out strings, I cleaned the fretboard and polished the frets to restore a smooth playing surface. A new set of strings instantly brought life back to the instrument, giving it a bright, responsive tone. With the fresh strings in place, I carefully adjusted the bridge saddles to dial in the intonation across all four strings — making sure every note rang true up and down the neck.
The result? A tight, punchy sound and a bass that feels effortless to play. The owner was thrilled with how balanced and in tune it felt, especially higher up the neck.
Whether it’s a simple restring or a full custom setup, I treat every instrument with the same attention to detail — because small adjustments can make a world of difference in tone and playability.
